Racing at Muzz
With the redevelopment of our home track at the Murarrie Recreation Reserve during 2023, we will hold monthly criterium racing at Albert Bishop Park, Nundah.
We race A, B, C, D and Masters grades.
Men and women race together in all grades – racing at Muzz is gender neutral unless we stipulate a change in format. We aim to provide safe and competitive racing opportunities for all levels of riders.
We also run junior development with simulated racing for juniors (see Junior Development). Only U15-U17 juniors approved by our Club Coach and Club Handicapper are allowed to race in senior grades at Muzz, and must comply with AusCycling technical rules including rollout.
We don’t race on days when there is an open race within 100km of Muzz, or on days when rain makes it dangerous to race. You can find these notifications on our Facebook page, group and calendar here.
Criterium racing at Muzz is conducted according to COVID-safe requirements; participants and spectators please sign in using the Check In Qld app.

Gradings
To race you must hold an AusCycling Race licence and have a Balmoral Cycling Club grading. You can get this by completing the grading form (make sure you give us a few days to process it). If you are new to racing you will be graded in D grade until you can demonstrate the skills to progress.
Our Club crit gradings are designed so that men and women can be competitive in their grade (e.g. many ACQ Elite Women A race competitively in Muzz B grade). Contact our Club Handicapper if this is not the case for you. Your Balmoral crit grading may not be the same as your AusCycling Queensland open grading.
Riders over 40 years old with a Muzz C grading and above can nominate to race in our Masters grade.

How to Register
To race at Muzz you need to register through Entry Boss before 8:00pm Friday night. You can’t just turn up on the day and race. If you haven’t raced before, please register early to give our volunteers plenty of time to address any grading or licence issues.
Our entry fees are: $12 for adults, $10 for Balmoral CC members, $8 for (approved) juniors regardless of grading, and $6 for JD.
On Saturday morning you need to register your name and collect your number before racing.
If racing is cancelled due to weather or calendar conflicts, information will be posted on the news page of this website and our Facebook page. Please check before leaving for racing on Saturday morning. Any pre-registrations are either carried forward or refunded in the event of racing being suspended.
Please follow our COVID-safe processes and all spectators please sign in using the QR code provided on site. All participants are required to agree to our Terms and Conditions.
Prize Money
At Muzz our podium place getters and prime winners in each grade receive a small amount of prize money. The total amount of prize money paid each week complies with AusCycling Queensland regulations.
We pay place getters whether they are men or women. In recognition of physical differences, we will pay the first unplaced woman, when there are more than 3 in a race and if there is not a woman amongst the podium place getters.
Amounts of prize money and the number of places paid each week are based on the total number of riders in a race. We pay 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each grade, and the first unplaced women where there are more than 3 women riders in a race.
We will pay prize money into your bank account and will let you know how to do this on the day. From time to time we may take separate podium pictures for men and women, but these do not necessarily reflect prize money paid.
