Most Saturdays throughout the year, Balmoral hold racing at their famous Murrarrie Criterium track. This track has seen stars from the junior ranks through to World Tour riders race on it, and has plenty of grades for people with less experience as well. Murrarrie is a 1.4 kilometre circuit of closed road located on Wynnum Road. If you wish to race at Murrarrie you must first have a Cycling Australia racing licence (link) and a Balmoral club grading
One of Balmoral’s main focal points is developing our juniors into well rounded and competitive riders. On Saturday mornings all juniors participate in a skills session, often run by experienced racers such as Hayley Jones, a former Junior World Champion and Women’s World Tour rider who has competed at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
Balmoral runs weekly track training sessions each Thursday for its members and non-members alike. These sessions take place on the outdoor velodrome at Sleeman Sports Centre, Chandler, which was built for and used in the 1982 Commonwealth Games. To participate in these track sessions you must have a current Cycling Australia licence (link).
The Balmoral Cycling Club supports 3 road racing teams. These teams focus primarily on the Queensland Road Series across Elite Men, Elite Women and Masters categories. Our Elite Mens and Womens teams develop Balmoral juniors to the stage where they can transition to higher level racing within Australia and eventually overseas.
